Scott Darling Spends Day with Stanley Cup Eating Portillo’s Blog Title

Chicago Blackhawks goalie Scott Darling spent his day with the Stanley Cup celebrating with family and friends while eating Portillo's Italian beef sandwiches. His family held a congratulatory party for him at a private residence and Portillo's catered the event.

Darling's specially-designed playoff mask featured images of the Portillo's hot dog and the restaurant's iconic red-and-white-striped bag. Darling grew up in the Chicago suburbs and enjoyed food from Portillo's whenever he had the chance. Other Chicago icons appeared on his mask as well, including the Blues Brothers and the Chicago skyline.

Scott Darling's day with the Stanley Cup also included a public exhibition of the cup in partnership with the Lemont, IL Park District.

Fun fact: Portillo's founder Dick Portillo purchased the 1938 Chicago Blackhawks championship banner that hung in the original Chicago Stadium. That banner now hangs inside the Portillo's at 100 W. Ontario Street in Chicago. The 1938 championship was the last time before 2015 that the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup on home ice.

Congratulations to Scott Darling, his family, and the entire Chicago Blackhawks organization!
