Family matters for Tampa, FL GM Danielle Moscato Blog Title

January 7, 2021

Danielle Moscato became a part of the Portillo's family in 2015 as a manager at the Brandon, FL location and showed a knack for training and developing Team Members. Now, she is the General Manager at our restaurant in Tampa, FL and works every day to live out our ideals of greatness and fun.

How long have you been with Portillo’s and what made you come work for us?

I have been with Portillos 5 years this past November 9. I was looking for a career that was going to make me feel at home and be part of a family. I noticed Portillos was going to open in Brandon FL so I looked online to see what Portillos was about. Looking online it seemed so family oriented and a fun place to call home. My OJE I met at RSC to meet with Julie from recruiting and Chris Berardi. They made me feel so welcomed like I was already part of the team. I knew this was the company I wanted to be part of.

What do you love about Portillo’s?

The food of course! But not only do I love our food, I love how food brings everyone together. To be able to provide great food and service to our guests and make memorable experiences to everyone who misses a piece of Chicago. The vales we live help make those experiences that much greater to our guests as well as our team members.

What was your first position here and what position did you get promoted to?

I started as a manager in 2015 for the Brandon Fl opening. In 2017 I joined the NRO team and had the pleasure of training new team members for 6 new locations. 2018 I came home to FL and was promoted to AGM of #45 in Tampa. October of 2020 was my latest achievement to GM of #45 in Tampa.

What do you love about your position?

As a GM I love being able to build a team that’s just like family. With that bond, our family helps deliver the greatness and fun to each and every guest that comes through our doors. Not only are we reaching out to every Chicagoan but we are building a brand in Florida to guests who might not ever heard of Portillos.

What advice would you give to someone at Portillo’s looking to move up?

I always tell everyone who would like to move up in Portillos is “What you put in, Portillos always gives back”. All your hard work and dedication here at Portillos is greatly appreciated and awarded.

Where do see yourself growing in this company?

Training and development is a passion of mine. Kim Rivera was my trainer and she asked me on my first day what position I would love to have in this company, my answer was “your position, I want your job!” Becoming an FTM would amazing. With the Florida market growing, I'm hoping a position will open up here in the outer market.
