Health and Safety Update from Portillo's Blog Title

March 12, 2020

People are at the heart of Portillo’s. Safety is a top priority for us, as we care deeply about the health and well-being of our guests, team members and partners. At this time, I wanted to personally let you know that we take the growing concerns around COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, very seriously.

At Portillo’s, our purpose is to create lifelong memories through unrivaled food and experiences. To do so, we strive for greatness. In our 56 years of business, Portillo’s has upheld strong industry standards when it comes to cleanliness and sanitation practices. In fact, cleanliness is one of the four guiding principles that define greatness for us.

As part of our operating procedures, we have always had stringent sanitation processes in place. Given the current environment, we are increasing the frequency of those practices as well implementing precautionary measures such as expanding space between tables, switching to plastic silverware in our dining rooms, adding hand sanitizer in common locations and limiting all external meetings and visitors in our Restaurant Support Center and food production commissaries. Additionally, we are working with our team members and supplier-partners to make sure they have the tools to stay healthy and secure as we navigate the COVID-19 progression. We want everyone to feel at home in Portillo’s; these continued efforts ensure our restaurants are as safe as they have always been.

We’re closely monitoring the evolving situation, following updates from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. We will continue to support and seek guidance from these agencies as well as local health agencies, and use their guidance to inform our decisions.

Thank you for being a loyal fan of Portillo’s. Our goal is to make sure you remain confident in dining with us and know that your health is a priority in everything we do. We are committed to keeping our restaurants safe so you can continue to fulfill your Portillo’s cravings.

Warm Regards,

Michael Osanloo

CEO, Portillo's
