Italian Beef Sandwich Kit (Serves 8-10)

I absolutely LOVE Portillo's Italian beef and have the sandwich kit shipped at least once a year. This was the first time that the meat arrived in a single package instead of the two separate ones it always came in previously. Three of us can't possibly go through 2.5lbs of meat in one go, so I ended up cutting the frozen block of beef in half. Let me tell you, that was no easy feat. It really makes no sense that it came as a single pack considering both the gravy and the rolls came as two packs. Please consider going back to the separate packs of beef!

It did come a day later than expected but it was still frozen! It was still great! Contacted customer care and they were very responsive and solved my issues promptly! Miss the original bread that was used! We made it for Christmas dinner and will continue this tradition since the shipping was successful and the beef was excellent! Now just build a Portillo’s in the Greenville area please!!

Being originally from Chicago this is always a treat, especially with what they try to sell as a beef sandwich in Florida. The hot giardiniera is also very special to receive. The product they sell her is I don't know what but it's not the real stuff. I can get it from Amazon. My wife does not like hot spicy food so that is a plus as whatever is left, I use on other dishes. The only negative would be that when I previously ordered, the beef came in two individual packages. This time it came in one huge package. We can't eat that much in a week.

I lived in Elmhurst, IL for 20+ years and have been a Portillos customer since the 70s. The recent changes to packaging are ok. I liked the smaller buns as I used to cut the larger buns in half. Packaging the beef in 2.5 lb vacuum bags is not my preference. Very seldom do I use the whole shipment at one time. The 1 pound beef vacuum bags made it easy to save half of the shipment for future use. Regardless of your packaging changes, I will continue purchasing your Italian beef.

The buns are so different than the ones served at your restaurant. They were also sooo small. The beef did not taste like the meat I have enjoyed for decades at your restaaurant - poor quality.

Since our introduction to Portillo’s in Naperville, IL many years ago, every year we order Italian Beef as Christmas gifts for our adult children and their families. They love it and look forward to receiving the gift. However, this year the beef was all in one package. Therefore, they were unable to conveniently enjoy 2 separate meals. All were disappointed in that change. Will consider that when ordering next year.

I’ve ordered Portillos for my sisters family for Christmas for several years now. Over the past couple years things have really gone down hill! This year, the gravy was open and spilled all over the contents. One of the bags of bread was ripped open and all the rolls in it were stale and just looked off. I’ve emailed customer service every year and crickets. I have never received a reply. I even include pictures. This may have been the last year for Portillos. Sad.

The rules used to be a lot better, the meat is now in one big package where before they used to be in one and a half pound packages. More sweet peppers were needed, we've ordered from portillo's for years. We always go to the restaurant when we visit relatives in Chicago.

You changed your buns. The buns sent were a bit stale and not as tasty as buns you've sent in the past. Bobby Enoch enjoyed the pureed hot beef sandwich! Helet us know he liked it and want more!

Disappointed. We have been loyal Portillo's customers for YEARS while living in Illinois. When we relocated around the country we always had their beef sandwiches and tamales shipped to us wherever we lived (Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee). We've never been disappointed -- until this year. The French bread rolls were 2/3 the size that they ALWAYS had been. Worse, the Italian beef was packaged in ONE frozen bag, not two as it ALWAYS had been. What an inconvenience that was! Things certainly have changed since the Portillo's family sold the business. And NOT for the better!

We order Portillos Italian Beef for our Christmas Day meal every year. It’s easy to fix and so delicious! Everyone looks forward to it!

I shipped two orders to two different people as a Xmas gift. You changed the way you package and ship the beef sandwiches. You use to also offer sausages with the beef sandwiches but you took that away too. I was disappointed in the different packaging (liked that you broke it up into 4s before and now it's all one with the meat) and you don't offer the sausage along with the beef. Please change it back and I will order another for myself and family. Thank you! You did get great reviews from the people I shipped them too.

This is our new Christmas day tradition. Thank you for putting the sauce in a bag instead of a plastic container. Everything came without damage. Tastes great!

Loved everything! I only wished you would offer a choice of mild or hot giardinieria, as the hot is too much for us. But that certainly didn’t stop us from enjoying the sandwiches.

Wonderful treat. I grew up in Chicago and have great fond feelings for Portillos Italian beef, and it did not disappoint.

Have made a tradition of serving Portillo's Italian Beef for lunch on Christmas. Order was shipped and received as ordered. Was disappointed that the French bread rolls were down sized this year. Made it difficult to properly serve the Italian beef, peppers and giardiniera on the smaller rolls. Would much prefer the larger full size rolls. Would also like to be able to order extra rolls. Wish we had a Portillo's near by.

A true Chicago classic! Juicy tender beef, swimming in mouthwatering gravy, and the sweet peppers and giardiniera are the perfect toppings, all piled on a soft bun that holds on to the gravy, making a perfect sandwich.
