Italian Beef Sandwich Kit (Serves 8-10)

We get these every year for the night before Thanksgiving meal. Always enjoyable, always delicious. This years box had 16 rolls rather than the customary 8 to make 1/2 sandwiches. Good option. We would like more green peppers for 16 sandwiches, but we made do. We look forward to this every year being so far from home.

Sad to see that you do not supply the Italian sausages for the combs. We ordered every month like clockwork.

As a former resident and long time ordered/gifter, I read the comments and decided to pass on it. If you've changed the beef package to one huge one and are no longer using the 6 to 8 inch gluten rolls (I think Milano?), I couldn't stand spending the money for something everyone says is now subpar. I can get subpar here in Cincy, I ordered from you to get what used to obviously be good. We even traveled to Indy 2 yrs ago to go to the store. Truly a shame, as from the comments it doesn't appear to be a one off issue.

Shipped Beefs to some Chicago expats in Charlotte NC . Had kids back in town for Thanksgiving. Made beefs that Wednesday night said it was a home run and got 8 beefs out of the package. Will be shipping some to a brother for new years. Only problem and I may have missed somehow on website but would have loved to ship beef sausage combos but did not see it.

Fantastic value, even with delivery, and as good as going. This kit feeds 6-8 people and can be stretched more. The bread shows no deterioration from travel and when following the reheat instructions is fantastic. The meat, gravy and giardinera are what you expect and just awesome. Exceeded all expectations for mail order food!

I don’t like 2 lbs in one package too much beef. We eat 1 pound for 2 nights. Now I have to defrost the whole thing just to get 1 lb. Don’t like the little rolls either. Go right back to what you did originally, and if its price that’s causing this, then raise the price. We would buy it at a higher price, doesn’t matter. Very Disapointed! I buy this about once a month, so please try not to change things.

They delivered the package late it was spoiled and cooler broken. I did pay for expedited shipping, after 10 emails and three phone calls the would only get give me a 50% credit for this horrible customer service. I spend at least 3 - 4 thousand dollars a year with my personal and business. Portillos has gone down since the sale from Dick. I guess they find $60 more important than a good customer. So, BONA BEEF will be my beef place from now on

I wish the beef still came in two packs. The gravy comes in 2 packs, the bread (which is now mini and 2 packs rather than 1...which i kind of liked) is 2 packs....The beef is one huge pack. Which forced me to cook it all at once. I am just one person who moved away from portillos and wanted it for the holidays. I would have like to make it 2 different times out of the order. Please bring back the 2 packs of beef. Also the inserts were way out of date per what I had (the insert talked about 2 packs. It also directed to a website for more info/detailed instructions (like microwave) but the website didn't have all that the insert said it did and actually had less info than the insert. That all being said....it was delicious.

I have ordered this in the past, it has become a Christmas tradition with my new friends in Montana. The reason I gave it 4 stars this time is in the past the beef was broken up into 2 packages. The 2 pkg option worked better for me because I could thaw out just what I needed depending on the number of guests. Please go back to that way of packaging. I grew up with Portillo's when I lived in the Chicago area and ordering it is my little bit of home.

it arrived when you said it would, and in good,”cold” condition. All products were undamaged and eating was absolutely terrific! The same great taste i remember from my days of living in “the Windy City”.

We ordered the 8 sandwich pack, as we have a number of times in the past, because it's always been shipped with two 1 lb. packs of beef and 8 full size rolls. It now comes with one 2.5 lb. pack of beef and 16 mini rolls. We used to freeze half and be able to eat it at two different times. Now we have to heat the entire package since it can't be re-frozen. It's sad that the small, two separate package option is gone.

Love this italian beef! Always visit a location when I'm back in Chicago, and order frozen delivery now and then and will continue to do so. HOWEVER, a recent change is a little disappointing. There used to be TWO packages of beef to go with TWO gravy. Now just ONE pack of beef. I used to be able to keep half the kit frozen for a few weeks later. Now that you have to heat all the beef at once, can't do that anymore :(

As great as we remembered, we will definitely be ordering again.

The roast beef was listed as two 1 lb. packages, and we received the entire 2 lb. beef in one package. Also, the beef was sliced, and we were expecting chopped up beef like we've gotten before and it was served chopped in Chicago for many years. Our order was delivered as requested and still frozen. We plan on ordering more in the future but hope that the roast beef order is coarsely chopped and in two lb. packaged.

Been ordering from Portillos for 10 years, never a problem. Until this year. Fed Ex blew it. Left it at Walgreens, who kept a perishable for 12 days, finally had it picked up and delivered, THAWED and moldy. Bad Walgreens, bad fed ex for just dropping it off. BUT thank you Portillos for replacing the order. Dispute a bad experience we will still be ordering again, because the food is worth it.

This was the first time that I order this product and found smaller French bread. It replaces the one large bread so that you can make two sandwiches instead of just the one big sandwich. The problem with the smaller bread roll is that it is more difficult to judge how much meet to use on the smaller roll. I ended up having additional meet after using up all the bread rolls. In my opinion, the large bread roll is much better when it comes to judging how much meet is being used to fill the roll. After receiving my order and finding one of the two bags of rolls soaked in the gravy in the box, I was quite disappointed, however, after calling and telling the representative what had happened, it was made right by sending a replacement order. I was really surprised, but very happy with the solution. I indicated that I might not purchase again, but after having the bad experience satisfied, I will very likely order from Portillo's again in the future. Thank you for your well received response

Beef sandwiches are the absolute best! Portillos is the best!!!!

Sweet peppers received were old, meat was good, BUT received in only one package, making it necessary to cook all of it in one sitting. Rolls were half-size, and not what I usually received- just generally disappointed for the first time with Portillo's. It would be nice if the meat came in small packages little it used to, and it would really be nice if I could order extra sweet peppers instead of receiving the hot pepper vegetables mix that I normally receive. I can't stress enough, how much I love Portillo's food, but you really need to have more options available! I hope that I can continue to order from you in the future, but there will need to be some changes in how you offer your food. Please DO MAKE A NOTE OF THIS MESSAGE TO MANAGEMENT!!! Thank you.

The food is great, no doubt about it. When I lived in the Chicago Area always enjoyed going to Portillos with my brother and our families. Now that I live in Denver CO, I need to have it delivered who once were Chicago natives and live elsewhere and deliver the sandwiches as gifts. If there is one item that needs improvement is your website. It is not user friendly when it comes to using your website to deliver to locations where there are no Portillos Rest. Please improve the site so it is more user friendly!!

The beef was great as usual but I don't lije that the beef is in one package instead of two.

I have ordered the beef kit quite a few times and I ordered this one for Thanksgiving dinner. The beef usually came in 2 packs now one big pack....I liked the 2 pack better. When thawed out the beef had several different cuts. Thick(too thick), shaved and some very fatty pieces. I was a little disappointed in the quality. Also the buns were a lot smaller than usual. It looks like from a different vendor. All in all we ate the beef sandwiches but it was not like I previously ordered. Not sure if I will order again.

I was very disappointed. I grew up in the nw suburbs of Chicago and ate Portillos a lot. The aujus wasn’t flavored very well, the beef was dry, and didn’t like the small buns. I don’t know why Portillos changed but not impressed by the changes at all.

Sandwiches were amazing along with the chocolate cake.

Too much Beef in one package. You changed it from two package of Beef to just one. A family of 4 can’t eat 2.5 pounds of Beef in one seating. Must offer something for smaller families.
