Portillo's started up the engines to welcome guests to our first-ever pick up and delivery only concept, Portillo's Pick Up, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
Portillo's, known in part for adorning its dining rooms with themed-décor that pays homage to the town's local history, kept with that festive tradition—this time bringing the décor outside. Diners zipped through the restaurant's three raceway-inspired speed lanes, honoring the historic Chicagoland Speedway located in Joliet, IL. The restaurant also features a car driven by famous NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
To kick off the grand opening, our Victory Lap Sweepstakes winner, Frank Ramsey from Romeoville, IL, was presented with a year of free Portillo's and was the first guest to drive through our drive-thru, chauffeured by Portillo's VP of Restaurant Support, Michael Portillo!
Prior to the grand opening, fans were invited for a free meal at Portillo’s on Monday, January 24, 2022 and Tuesday, January 25, 2022. The restaurant asked attendees to consider donating to the local charity partners, Joliet Public Schools District 86 and Spanish Community Center (Centro Comunitario Espanol), with Portillo’s matching the organization's donation amount. The Joliet community came together and raised $3,626.59 for Joliet Public Schools District 86 and $3,060.99 for the Spanish Community Center.
