Portillo's welcomed Badgers on the west side of Madison, WI to the restaurant's second Madison-area restaurant on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
Diners were able to soak in the nostalgic atmosphere inside the '60s-era themed dining room, which paid homage to the town's University of Wisconsin campus with a jumbo Badgers scoreboard on the ceiling and other Badgers memorabilia. The new restaurant also boasts Portillo's first location that features a third drive-thru lane for speedy service.
Prior to the grand opening, fans were invited for a free meal at Portillo’s on Monday, November 22, 2021 and Tuesday, November 23, 2021. The restaurant asked attendees to consider donating to the local charity partner, Society of St. Vincent de Paul—Madison, with Portillo’s matching the organization's donation amount. The Madison community came together and raised an incredible $18,767 for the non-profit organization.
